That warm fuzzy feeling

Firstly we would like to apologise for being so bad at keeping you all up to date via blog. We have been so busy, we blinked and it is now August!! We have so much to update you on over the coming months, but thought we would start with a summary of this year so far through the eyes of crepe lucette.

It has been a challenging year for many of us. Not only are we having to battle against the economic climate, but there is an ongoing battle with the rain gods who have been determined to effect our crops, manufacturers, retailers, events and businesses.

Determined not to be beaten, the UK have not experienced a year like it for unity, positivity and support since the end of world war 2. The diamond jubilee celebrations, along with the olympics 2012 have well and truly lifted the nations spirit and re-ignited our identity and the feeling of belonging and being proud.

This is one of the reasons Crepe Lucette provides the experience that we do. We all know how vogue vintage is at the moment, however we also know how these 'trends' can have a short life cycle.

Yes we are a vintage creperie, but we are also more than that. We are the warm fuzzy connotations that go with it. The escapism that takes you back to a world that had strong values, togetherness. A world where people communicated face to face and looked out for one another. A world that was full of simple pleasures and niceties, where you had time to smile and the whole world smiled with you. These experiences should never have a sell by date.

During our many markets and events this summer we have seen no end of support and witnessed wonderful communities going back to tradition. Local buskers performing amongst the market goers, encouraging customers to put down their shopping and spin and turn elegantly across the square in
response to the upbeat acoustics.

Attending the likes of Sandringham flower show we were greeted by the Prince of Wales and Camila waving gallantly from a beautiful horse drawn carriage. Ladies dressed for the occasion in elegantly flowing summer dresses and pretty hats, whom sipped our tea and indulged in a delicious crepe or
two as they sat under the shade of the trees with a crepe lucette picnic rug.

The lucettes have been so lucky to be part of what feels like a quintessentially British story book, bringing to life the true meaning of being part of such a great nation. It has been a memorable and happy year so far, albeit tough for many. The Brits have mirrored the past by putting on a brave face, gone back to basics, held their heads high and revelled on being themselves.

Thou shalt not forget x x
